An Alliance with the Huron Empire

1. What is an alliance? What does this word mean?Great traders themselves, the Hurons navigated the rivers of Central Canada and were very prosperous. They would become the leading source of furs for the French.
Alliance means an agreement between countries,political parties,etc.To work together in order to achieve sth that they all want.That's a group of people,polotical parties,etc.
2. Why would Champlain want to form an alliance with the Hurons?
Because all three nations had strategic interests to cooperate with the French. The Hurons, today commonly known as Wyandot, were associated with the French from the start of colonisation. The French, who viewed them as the most advances nation, in terms of trade and technology,chose to associate with them in order to gain better profits from the North American colonies. In turn, the Wyandot saw an opportunity to cooperate with a power that would undermine their most powerful foes -the Iroquois.I think Champlain want to form an alliance with the Hurons because there are must have some advantages that Hurons can help French.Champlain knew the Huron not only had better fur than the Algonkin and Iroquois, but access through trade with other tribesto areas of even higher quality,so if he can have an alliance with them he can get some helps to do many works.

a.This picture show me a war setting.There are so many boats in this picture and some people are shouting now.I think they are in a forest because I saw a lot of trees.
There has a lot of people they are all around one person,maybe he did something wrong that I think.The man who is in the center of this picture he is very brave,because he can dozen with other people.That's a terrible setting that most people can not understand what happened.

b.I don't think this a realistic image because there is a person that he stand at the middle of those two groups but he didn't die.
4. The Hurons had many economic advantages because of their geographic location and territory. They were located on the southern shore of Georgian Bay, where the fishing was excellent.
a. Find a map of Georgian Bay. Explain where this bay is.
This bay is a large bay of Lake Huron, located in Ontario, Canada.Georgian Bay is surrounded by Manitoulin District, Sudbury District, Parry Sound District, Muskoka District, Simcoe County, Grey County and Bruce County.

b. Translate the word bay.
Bay is a part of the sea,or of a large lake,enclosed by a wide curve of the shore.Bay is a marked section og ground either inside or outside a building,for example for a vehicle to park in,for storing things,etc.It also means a curved area of a room or building that sticks out from the rest of the building.If it is a verb,it means to make a long deep sound,especially while hunting.

5 . Find a photograph of Georgian Bay that you like. Explain why you like it in 3-5 sentences.The vegetation of this region includes mixed forests, meadows, and fields. The sandy soil was perfect for planting corn, squash, pumpkins, and beans.


I like this picture so much,it shows a nice setting.The sky is very blue and it shows me an comfortable feeling.There are so many trees in this picture that people can see it easily.The trees are the symbol of green.The vegetation of this region includes mixed forests, meadows, and fields. The sandy soil was perfect for planting corn, squash, pumpkins, and beans.


6. Take a look at this piece of Canadian Art called "Stormy Weather". The artist is Frederick Varley. He illustrated the stormy weather of Georgian Bay.a. How do you feel when you see this painting? Explain in 5-8 sentences. Tell me why you feel that way.

I feel so lamentable when I saw this picture. When I saw this picture,I feel it's so dirty.The trees are float on the water.It can makes people think that's an awful setting and people will asked that why the environment is very dirty?why the trees are float on the water?The poem don't want Canada damaged.The sea also very scaring that I don't want to look at it.

7. This is a poem by A.J.M Smith. It was put together with this image on a past provincial exam.a. When you read this poem, how do you feel about the Canadian landscape? Explain in 10-12 sentences. Think deep and be creative.
When I saw this poem,I know this is talked about the Canadian landscape.The author use so many colors to write this poem,it can show the readers a setting that he want to talking.It used some strong words that I think the author want to show a strong land that it can take people to an excited setting. "Cedar and jagged firuplift sharp barbs against the gray" talks the poem wishes of nature he didn't want black full of the nature. It also shows the Canadian landscape is very lonly.This poem is full of beauty and conflict.It can takes people go to a beautiful environment.It's the hope that the author want to say.This poem includes the trees, the landscapes and the environment.All those things can make the readers like this poem and hope that people would protect the environment.

8. What did you learn in this lesson? Explain in 5-8 sentences.
I learned what is an alliance in this lesson. I also learned the reason of Champlain want to form an alliance with the Hurons. I know the relationship between Champlain and Hurons. I learned the location of Georgian Bay. I learned a poem called "The Lonely LandA.J.M. Smith" which talks about the Canadian landscape. I can got some ideas form it and it can teach me how to write a poem.

After Port Royal - Champlain Continues


1. Find a map of the St. Lawrence River. Explain what you see in the picture in 3-5 setnences.

This is a picture of St.Lawrence River. People can see this river is between Canada and America.This river is important to these two countries. The St.Lawrence River is near the Lake Ontario.Quebec is in the middile of this river.


2. Find a photograph of the St. Lawrence River you like. Explain what you see in the picture in 3-5 sentences.


I found this picture on the Internet,it shows me a nice river.There is a boat in this picture and there has two lands.I can guess the person who take this picture he at a point on the top of this river.It shows me the mountains,the nice lands and the river.The water of this river are very clearly,it looks like a mirror.

3. Why did Champlain choose to use a river for transportation? Explain in 3-5 sentences.
Because boats are the most convenience transportation at that time.It's a good way to explorate.If people choose to use a river for exploration they are so wisely and it can helps them save more time.1824 the Champlain Canal was completed, connecting the Lake to the Hudson River, and in 1843, the Chambly Canal opened to provide safe passage around the Richelieu River’s rapids. It shows Champlain is a smart person.He knew how to make the time and he knew how can did a good job.
4. Find a picture of Champlain's habitation at Quebec. Explain what you see in 5-8 sentences.

There is a huge house in this picture.It shows it has a flag on the top of this house.That's a place that Champlain lived in.It looks like a factory that I think.It has some houses then connect each other.


5. The fort was a natural fort because Quebec had towering cliffs.

b. Why are the cliffs a natural fort? Explain in 3-5 sentences. Because the towering cliffs are natural protection. When the natural disasters coming people always go to cliffs .There are no high buildings near the cliffs,it's good for people to stay when the earthquake comes. Cliffs can give a nice place to people.The cliifs can make people feel safety.
6. What did you learn today? Explain in 5-8 sentences.
I learned a lot today,I do the retest today.I heard that we will have the quiz from lesson 13 to 20 and lesson 1 to 3.We also should prepare the since test and we should read "To kill a mocking bird"this week.It has a lot of work to do.Oh...my god...but we have to do it,if I want get an A.We did the reading log as same as before.
Bonus:
1. There is a moat around Champlain's habitation. Why is that important?
The moat can protect the buiding's quality and it can let people can't destory the country and their palace.If people want to cross the moat,it's too hard for them.
